Business Meets Bliss: Our Barbados Resort Review Trip
Hey y’all! We just got back from a sun-soaked business trip to Barbados—and let me tell you, even though we were working, this island made it feel like a whole vibe. The goal? To check out a few top resorts so we can offer the best experiences to our KMD Travel family. And whew, Barbados did not disappoint.
Bougainvillea Barbados: A Peaceful Oceanfront Gem

We made our home base at Bougainvillea Barbados, a charming boutique resort with around 100 rooms—all with balconies or terraces overlooking either the pool or the dreamy Caribbean Sea. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite that came with a full kitchen, which is perfect for travelers who want to cook or stock up on snacks.
Though it’s not an all-inclusive resort, the two onsite restaurants were delicious—one offering Mediterranean cuisine and Calabash, serving up local Bajan flavors. Food and drinks were reasonably priced, and there was live entertainment nightly starting at 7 PM, featuring talented local singers.
Pro Tip: Next time, we’re ordering groceries from Massy Stores online and having them deliver straight to the suite. That kitchen is too convenient not to use! This was the most relaxing spot of our entire stay—and if we weren’t busy touring resorts, we’d have been lounging by the beach or pool 24/7.
Getting Around: No Need to Prebook Transfers
Here’s a game-changer for y’all: you don’t need to book airport transfers ahead of time. Instead, download the PickUp Caribbean App and schedule your ride when you’re ready. Not only is it super convenient, but it’s also way more affordable than traditional transfer services. Whether you're headed to the resort or exploring the island, this app is your new best friend.
Tasting Barbados: Lickrish Food Tour & Oistins

Y’all know we had to eat our way around the island—and the Lickrish Food Tour was a total highlight! It combined local bites with a mini island tour. From savory bites to sweet island treats, it was the perfect way to explore Barbados with your tastebuds.
We also visited Oistins Fish Fry, which is a must-do for authentic Bajan eats. I tried barracuda for the first time and my husband went with fried marlin—both were absolutely delicious. We visited on a quieter night to skip the crowd, but if you love a lively party atmosphere, Friday night is the time to go!
Resort Site Inspections: Hilton, Sandals, and More
In true travel advisor fashion, we scoped out two more resorts for y’all:
Hilton Barbados Resort

Located near historic Bridgetown, Hilton Barbados offers breathtaking bay and ocean views. It’s not all-inclusive, but flexible food and drink packages make it easy to plan your stay. The Bay View rooms are where it’s at—those nighttime city lights and sunsets are next level! Plus, there’s a full gym and spa on site.
Sandals Barbados & Sandals Royal Barbados

Now this is the spot if you're looking for all-inclusive luxury. Between the two Sandals resorts, guests can enjoy 21 restaurants, countless pools, and even a four-lane bowling alley (yep, you read that right). From entry-level luxury rooms to extravagant Rondovals with private pools and Prime Minister Suites with infinity pools, there’s something for every traveler.
We were especially impressed by the rooftop area, complete with two serene pools and a quiet bar. Honestly? That’s where I’d hang out most of the time—hello, adult-only paradise!
Local Favorites: Chefette & Customs Tips

Before we wrap up, let’s talk Chefette—Barbados’ beloved fast-food chain. Y’all have to try the roti, and if you love it (which you will), grab a few frozen ones to take home. It’s the perfect little souvenir for your taste buds.
One more thing we loved? Barbados customs is a breeze. No need to splurge on fast-track service—the lines moved quickly, making for a smooth arrival and departure.
Final Thoughts: Why We’ll Be Back
Barbados stole a piece of our hearts. From the relaxing vibes at Bougainvillea Barbados to the vibrant food scene and top-notch resorts, this island knows how to blend laid-back luxury with local flavor. When it’s time to slow down and recharge, this is where we’re headed.
